I have nothing but praise for the IKEA’s PS VÅGÖ chair. I originally bought these inexpensive outdoor chairs six years ago when I was looking for a more updated and mid-century version of the Adirondack Chair. I loved the clean, modern form and they were comfortable to sit in. I wasn’t sure how I felt about giant plastic chairs looking cheap, but they really remain pretty good looking over time. The form never cracked, even with kids standing and playing on them. Even the one that we always have had out in the sun has held up phenomenally well. I have loved our IKEA PS VÅGÖ Chair that we purchased from Ikea. I have been surprised and delighted that ALL of the outdoor furniture we have purchased from Ikea has held up really well with just some basic maintenance. The PS Vago chair has been a little gem though. It is surprisingly comfortable to sit in, super easy to clean, looks great in a modern decor, and has a fantastic price point ($30 for adult size, $20 for child size). I have recommended them to a countless number of friends.
My only complaint is that over the past six years, the colored chairs (mine are orange) have faded significantly and are showing their age. The white one, however, has held up beautifully and while it tends to get little scuff marks it isn’t anything a magic eraser can’t handle. The orange chairs were on the shady side of the house and not exposed to direct sun for most of their life. They still faded. Although I have to say, even though they have faded, they are still very solid and secure when you sit on them. It is totally understandable that outdoor furniture would age. It is exposed to the elements constantly. After six years I may be expecting too much from a $30 chair from Ikea. I hope that this helps any future PS Vago shoppers in the future!
*** Note: I live in Southern California where the sun is very intense and year-round. We do not get snow (or much rain). These chairs may (and likely do) age differently in different parts of the country.
