The Granville Island Public Market, located in Vancouver, B.C., is a fantastic indoor market that features produce, gifts, plants, flowers, meat, homemade items, and SO MUCH GREAT FOOD. I have been to Seattle’s Public Market and I felt that this one was even more special. I think this had to do with the layout and maybe the people that I visited it with. It also felt warmer (Canadians are really nice) and there was so much to get even for someone visiting from out of town. I was drawn to the plants and flowers at the market. Below is a sampling of what I saw there.

I love these wrap around planters! They were actually from a different gift shop on Granville Island.
planters wrap around posts
These cool planters wrap around posts! I had never seen anything like this. What a great idea this would be for gardens with limited space.

The stacks of fresh produce are so beautiful (and equally tasty). Know that you will need to pay to taste the produce, but some other food vendors offered tastes of their food.

Vancouver is such a fantastic place to visit. In the summer when it rains a bit less and the weather is temperate, the city really shines. I had chalked up visiting the Public Market to be a tourist trap. While there are tourist shops on the island, it was very charming and filled also with local flavor. It is worth a visit if you are in the area. You can get food for a picnic and eat just outside looking at the water and all of the ferries and water taxis going past. Visiting the Public Market on Granville Island really is a fun way to spend a morning or afternoon.
